Abstract

Purpose : This study was done to systemize of health education in the Korean Army in order to identify the relationships among interpersonal, institutional, community factors and the health education.

Methods : The design was done with the between method triangulation using interview and semi-structured questionnaire survey. Data were collected from Oct 1 to Dec 15, 2011. The qualitative data were analyzed by the analytic method of Colaizzi. The quantitative data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, ¥ö2 test & Logistic Regression via SPSS WIN 12.0 program.

Results : The result shows that regular infantry division spends much more time in health education than either homeland defense infantry division or reserve infantry division. The result of logistic regression analysis reveal that method of health education was not associated with institutional factor, whereas medical personnel instructors were 46.9 times more than non-medical personnel was associated with institutional factor.

Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that the systemization of health education is not associated with factors an education methods, but rather with the time, content, instructors of education. Thus, a policy-based approach considering of institutional factors is required to enhance the systemization of health education for health equity.
